MARTINI JUNCTION Scale: 2mm - 1ft. Gauges 9mm ('N' ) by Hull Miniature Railway Society

Size: 12ft x 3ft 2ins (3.7m x 1.0m) (plus operator space), Operators: Four, Transport: Two cars.

The layout was originally planned as an exercise in the next step up from the basic “Track Mat” modelling.  New baseboards were constructed and reclaimed track from a previous exhibition layout was laid.  The scenic boards were fitted with re-used Seep point motors, while the fiddle yard was equipped with surface mounted Peco point motors, also salvaged from the same previous layout.
All the buildings are scratch built from cardboard cut from corn flake packets, clad with the embossed plastic and finished with paint of an appropriate colour.
The layout is based on a twin track main line with a small branch line leading off through the back scene.  Because of the variety of stock belonging to club members, ranging from the 1930’s to the current day, it was decided that the layout should have the air of a small market town that had barely changed over the years.
So, a small market town, with a main line railway and a branch line that could be “Any time, Anyplace, Anywhere”. If you are of an age to remember the advertisement, it could only be called:-
